The TCF Wellness Ministry

The Need:

As advances in Health & technology continue, Americans find themselves dealing with increasingly complex medical issues as a simple result of living longer lives. Another element is found in the maturing of the "Baby Boomer" generation, adding vast numbers of new "clients" to an already massive health care system. As a final touch, our culture has become increasingly litigious, spurring a liability-sensitive style of medical practice in which the patient becomes increasingly responsible for his or her own medical condition, as well as the knowledge and understanding that governs the appropriate treatment for that condition. Toss in the recent complications of health and insurance legislation and it becomes clear that the health care industry no longer provides a purely "user friendly" environment.

The Response:

Seeking to meet the needs of, and minister effectively to, the people of God, Trail Christian Fellowship has created the TCF "Wellness Ministry" to function as an advocate for those in need of biblical counsel regarding medical issues. Our "medical minister" volunteers will help people access medical information, services and equipment, acting as a clearinghouse for a variety of healthcare resources. Without replacing or encroaching on the role of professional medical care, The TCF Wellness Ministry is designed to help Christian adults become more informed about their health and equipped to make more appropriate choices regarding their own health management decisions.

The Details:

An RN will be available to return calls regarding questions on basic medical issues, resources and biblical guidelines on health care specifics. These consultations are free of charge and completely confidential. In addition, the Wellness Ministry will offer an after-service Blood Pressure Clinic on the last Sunday of every month. A team of Nursing volunteers will be on hand from 11:30 am to 12 pm in the classroom next to the Fireside Room (old Coffee House) to take blood pressures and offer appropriate counsel to anyone who wishes to participate. For additional information and appointments please call the TCF Office (541-878-3501).
